Salary Guidelines

When posting jobs for Indeed, be sure to follow these guidelines when displaying the salary for your job opening.

On Indeed, salary estimates are currently testing in the US, and Indeed plans to continue rolling this feature out with an anticipated full launch by July 1, 2022.  34% of employers currently provide salary ranges to Indeed and we see that jobs with salary information have 30% more apply starts per impression than jobs without salary information. More and more states are making this a requirement as well.

We would like to see all employers providing the salary ranges directly on their jobs. In cases where jobs do not have an employer-provided salary, Indeed will estimate the job’s salary based on data points like job title, location, and reported salaries.

Ensure your job is posted

Indeed can remove your job if it does not meet specific content and formatting guidelines. To prevent this from happening, here are a few quick tips to always follow.

  • Always post your salary in the Job Feed. If you do not have your salary in the Job Feed, Indeed will automatically create an estimated salary for your job
  • Post your salary in the Job Description. While not necessarily required in most cases, posting your salary in the Job Description as well will cover any requirements for having salary information in a job post
  • Always specify common pay periods. Using common pay periods, such as per hour, or month, will help with extraction results
  • Adhere to the number formats. Below are Indeed's required number formats. Use these formats to keep them as simple as possible
  • Include currency symbol ($) or abbreviation (USD)
  • Do not include multiple salaries in the job title/description
